Thoughts on the Crown, Episode 2: The Balmoral Test

Elizabeth and Matt have ~ So Many Thoughts ~ about The Crown Season 4 Episode 2: 1. Margaret Thatcher at Balmoral, and why her outsider lens was so delicious...

And we’re back! With thoughts on one of my favorite episodes of Season Four of The Crown: The Balmoral Test. The first half of the second episode focuses on Margaret Thatcher’s fish-out-of-water experience, and then Diana swoops in with her triumphant turn. With your thoughts and questions in hand, Matt and I chat about:

  • Why Margaret Thatcher’s (super dramatized) unpreparedness made for such a delicious view on the Windsors

  • How this first, long glimpse at Diana is a world away from the global icon she became

  • THE STAG.

  • Why the Charles and Diana courtship felt like a group project

  • And finally, the fashion! To quote one commenter: “The Barbour of it all.”
