"She has developed her own consistent signature style," said Elizabeth Holmes.

"I think the Queen has very much approached her clothing as a uniform, but she keeps it creative and interesting within those guidelines," Elizabeth Holmes.

"Royal fashion is fun, powerful and steeped with meaning," says author and royal fashion commentator Elizabeth Holmes.

“The queen is so singular in the way she approaches her job and her wardrobe. I see a lot of similarities between Kate and the queen … It’s very subtle incorporation of certain things,” said Holmes.

Her Majesty gave her outfits a second or third life. But never more; royal protocol prohibits the monarch from wearing an outfit more than a few times before it is “retired” from public view, according to author Elizabeth Holmes.

“I think because she was a constant presence who didn’t say very much, it allowed people to project on her in different ways,” says Elizabeth Holmes.
